Seeking Things Above

Seeking Things Above

2 Corinthians 4:18

2 Corinthians 4:18 "°we don't focus our attention on what is seen but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but the unseen realm is eternal."

As we seek things above, we always have the challenge of contending with the things below.  The world is a crazy mess and for many just getting through the day is a struggle.  Jesus gave us a little secret while here on earth.  He reminded us that we weren't meant to be humans, on earth, having a spiritual experience; but that we were spirit beings, having a human experience.  Sometimes just changing our focus a little, helps a lot.  Jesus told us that we were not of this earth.  In his prayer to the Father, to protect His disciples, he said in John 17:16, "For they no longer belong to this world any more than I do." Because we do not belong to this world, our main focus should not be in it, but on His kingdom.  Jesus when speaking to the disciples about fear asked them, who clothed the lilies of the field?  Who fed the sparrows of the air?  It was the Father who provided every aspect of their practical daily lives, and he told them, how much more would He not do that for us.  Jesus said, "Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things would be added unto you."  [Matthew 6:33]

When we put Jesus as the center of our daily living, and we seek first His kingdom, and His righteousness; then all these things, (the daily and practical issues of life), He would provide for you.  We are spirit beings having a human experience, but we are not alone.  God is with us. He will never leave or forsake us.

The bible tells us that the Kingdom of God isn't "fancy talk" but the very power of God, and it resides within you.  That power is greater than anything in this physical and material world.  That is why, "we don't focus on what is seen, but keep our attention on what is unseen, for what is seen is temporary, and what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:18
