A Prayer For Our Nation and Community

A PRAYER FOR OUR NATION AND COMMUNITY

Patient God, we pray for our nation and community.

Whether we have been here a few months or our whole lives,

We pray for this community which is our home.

God, forgive us when we fail to listen to on another!

Forgive us when either intentionally or unintentionally

We belittle the customs, symbols, language, color, or religion of our neighbors.

Help us to understand that only as we bind up the broken places in others will we

begin to heal ourselves.

Our nation and community needs leaders and citizens who have the courage to

reach beyond the politics of division in order to realize the promise of tomorrow.

For the safety of our children, may we trust the faith we hold in common more than

the sad frustrations that divide us.

O God, we promise to be people of patience, generosity, and faith.

Help us keep our promises.

In Christ's Holy Name we Pray.

Amen
