In these days
Matthew 22:37-40, Lamentations 3:40
In these days, conflict, hatred, intolerance and false witness are dominating human existence. And the trend for all of them is one of precipitous growth. On the surface, it seems that these outcomes are easily explained by politics, elections and control as their excuses. Really?
Upon closer inspection, aren't these merely manifestations of just more of man's inhumanity to man? Aren't they just inevitable outcomes of a longstanding turning away from God? Aren't they really behaviors of ignoring God's law?
Jesus explained to His disciples that "All the law and the Prophets hang on°" LOVE for the Father and Neighbor. (Matthew 22:37-40).
We Christians, if we have been paying attention, have seen a corresponding precipitous decline of loving behavior in the world. The message is clear to us that God's law remains in effect and that Jesus' call to love His Father and each other is still our calling. Even for those who are may not reciprocate or be difficult to love? Love anyway.
"Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord." (Lamentations 3:40)
